Pray or be Prey
A Philanthropic Ministry
Our Beginnings:
Pray or be Prey Ministry began because of the obedience of our
Pastor in challenging our small Monday night church group with the
responsibility of using $200 of the church's money in an inventive way for
God's Kingdom. The ideas on how this money could be invested into the Kingdom
of God were many, but the decision was not immediate. It was only through
prayer that God revealed a plan for what He would have our small group do.
The Plan:
As in Luke 19:15-26, our group wanted to be good stewards of what God had
given us. We wanted to be able to report "what they had done with the money
and what their profits were." God had given one of our members the phrase,
Pray or be Prey, and then He gave another member the idea of taking
these simple, yet powerful four words and putting them onto magnetic stickers
for cars, refrigerators, etc... as a way to make a profit on the money we had
been given. We would produce as many as we could with the amount we had, sell
them at a profit, thus multiplying the money we had been given. One third of
the money would be available to offer to those in need - be that missions,
the hungry, or even someone who just needed some flowers sent to cheer them
during a difficult time in their life. Two-thirds would be reinvested to make
more products with these four words, repeating this over and over, thus being
able to give away more and more each time this process was repeated. As the
quantities being produced increased, the cost would be reduced, thereby
allowing a greater and greater amount of the money to be used effectively,
with the goal being more than 90 percent would always be invested back into
Kingdom work.
The Goal:
- To Glorify God and Honor God with what He has given us.
- To encourage, support and pray for those in need.
- To simplify and remind believers of the message found in 1 Peter 5:8, so that when we feel the enemy devouring us in our day, we remember to pray or be prey!
The Promise:
Any monies collected using Pray or be Prey, is to be used
exclusively for the Kingdom work of our one true God, through Jesus Christ
His Son and with the power of the Holy Spirit. Works may include such things
as Mission trips, the homeless, the needy, etc... This money is never to be
used for personal gain or advancement.
The Protection:
Pray or be Prey will be retained under the umbrella of the "Journey
Through" Ministry.
The Blessings:
Seeing the Kingdom of God served through serving others in need.
